Vivo launched two new phones in China, namely the Xplay 5 Elite and the Xplay 5. The Elite seems to be the most interesting of the two as it packs a huge amount of RAM, 6GB in fact.
Besides all that RAM, the Xplay 5 Elite also has an all-metal chassis and a dual-curved 5.43in Super AMOLED quad HD display, made of Gorilla Glass 4. The phone also relies on a powerful Snapdragon 830 chipset and comes with 128GB in internal flash storage, definitely good news for the app-hungry.
The Xplay 5 Elite also comes with a 16MP Sony IMX298 rear camera sensor that has the feature of the moment: phase-detection autofocus. It is complemented by a dual-tone LED flash as well as front 8MP camera. It also has a 3,600mAh battery, dual-SIM support, LTE as well as a fingerprint scanner.
As for the operating system, it is running on a custom skin of Android 5.1 Lollipop that includes the Funtouch launcher which supports split-screen functionality.
The Xplay 5 is a scaled down version of the Elite, with the same design, display and camera setup but its innards are different, namely relying on the Snapdragon 653 chipset and 4GB of RAM.
