Institute of Information Technology Strengthens Data Processing Infrastructure to Advance AI and Scientific Research 2026-07-01 16:00:00 / IMPORTANT EVENTS

The Institute of Information Technology under the Ministry of Science and Education has further enhanced its data processing infrastructure as part of its ongoing efforts to support scientific research, accelerate the adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies, and strengthen cybersecurity capabilities.

According to the Institute, the computing infrastructure of the AzScienceNet Network Operation Center has been upgraded with new high-performance server equipment with the support of the Ministry of Science and Education. The investment marks another important step toward expanding the country's digital research capacity.

The newly deployed computing resources will enable researchers to process large-scale datasets more efficiently and carry out computationally intensive tasks, including scientific modeling, machine learning, AI application development, and advanced scientific experiments. The enhanced infrastructure is expected to significantly improve the performance and efficiency of research projects that require substantial computing power.

The upgraded server equipment will also expand AzScienceNet's cloud computing and virtualization capabilities, providing a modern and scalable environment for developing, training, and deploying new digital services for scientific and educational institutions. In addition, the strengthened infrastructure will support the implementation of AI-driven projects across a wide range of research fields.

Beyond improving domestic research capabilities, the expanded infrastructure will facilitate closer collaboration between Azerbaijan's higher education institutions and leading international scientific and educational organizations. It will create new opportunities for joint research initiatives, participation in international projects requiring artificial intelligence and high-performance computing resources, and deeper integration into global scientific networks.

The commissioning of the new server infrastructure is expected to further enhance the quality, reliability, and resilience of AzScienceNet services. It will also expand access to modern digital infrastructure for the country's scientific and educational institutions, creating new opportunities for the application of artificial intelligence technologies in both research and education.
