Institute of Information Technology continues to carry out targeted activities to expand the scope of the AzScienceNet network infrastructure and strengthen its role in advancing digital transformation in Azerbaijan. The implementation and expansion of eduROAM (education roaming), one of the leading technological services of GEANT (European Association of Science and Education Networks), in the country's scientific research institutes and higher education institutions through AzScienceNet, is of great importance in terms of accelerating the integration of Azerbaijan's scientific and educational environment into the European space.

Recently, with the technical support of specialists from the AzScienceNet network, Azerbaijan Medical University has been connected to the eduROAM service.

The deployment at AMU was delivered within the framework of a memorandum of cooperation signed between the Institute of Information Technology and Azerbaijan Medical University at the end of last year. The agreement covered key areas including access to high-speed internet, provision of advanced network services, and utilisation of opportunities offered by the GÉANT Association through the AzScienceNet NOC.

eduroam (education roaming) is a global secure Wi-Fi roaming service for the international research and education community, enabling users to access wireless internet at participating institutions worldwide using the same credentials provided by their home organisation.

At present, eduroam is available at 36 organisations in Azerbaijan. Ongoing efforts are focused on further extending the service to additional scientific and educational institutions across the country.
