Azerbaijan Medical University and Institute of Information Technology signed a memorandum on cooperation 2026-01-05 10:00:00 / IMPORTANT EVENTS

A memorandum on the development of cooperation in the field of digital healthcare and digital medicine has been signed between Azerbaijan Medical University (AMU) and the Institute of Information Technology of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

The signing ceremony took place at Azerbaijan Medical University with the participation of AMU Rector, Professor Garay Garaybayli; Vice-President of ANAS; Director General of the Institute of Information Technology, Academician Rasim Alguliyev; as well as scientists, specialists, and responsible representatives of both institutions.

In his speech, AMU Rector Professor Garay Garaybayli emphasized that in recent years the country’s leadership has set important objectives aimed at strengthening the integration of science and education. In this context, the implementation of comprehensive measures and the expansion of institutional cooperation have become increasingly significant.

Highlighting the growing role of information technologies and artificial intelligence in medical education and healthcare, the rector noted that AMU is actively involved in initiatives aligned with these priorities. He highly appreciated the existing collaboration with the Institute of Information Technology, particularly the multidisciplinary research and joint projects already underway. Professor Garay Garaybayli expressed confidence that expanding cooperation with other AMU departments would lay a strong foundation for more effective and impactful joint projects in the future.

During the meeting, participants also exchanged views on a number of important issues, including ensuring AMU’s access to the opportunities offered by the GÉANT Association through the AzScienceNet Network Operations Center, providing scientific and methodological support to AMU students by the Institute’s specialists, training highly qualified personnel, and implementing joint grant-funded projects.

Then, a memorandum of cooperation in the field of digital healthcare and digital medicine was signed between Azerbaijan Medical University and the Institute of Information Technology. The memorandum reflects on scientific support for the implementation of tasks arising from state policy in the areas of innovation and digital technologies, as well as ensuring the cybersecurity of medical data and data sovereignty. It also envisages conducting joint scientific research on the application of artificial intelligence and digital technologies in medicine, participation in grant-funded projects, and the organization of seminars and conferences, along with the exchange of personnel and professional experience.
