The head of the AzScienceNet Network Operation Center of Institute of Information Technology, Ph.D. Babak Nabiyev participated in the international conference dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the Research and Education Network of Moldova (RENAM) "RENAM E-Infrastructure – Supporting Excellence in National Research and Education" and the meetings of the EaPConnect project.
31 organizations and 100 participants from 14 countries took part in the event held at Moldava State University. Attendees included representatives from RENAM’s connected institutions, Eastern Partnership and EU NRENs, ‘EU4Digital: Connecting Research and Education Communities’ (EaPConnect) project, representatives of GEANT as well as Moldovan government and EU officials.
Erik Huizer, CEO of GÉANT, Irina Matthews, EaPConnect Project Manager, as well as Thibault Charlet, Programme Manager for Digital Transformation, DG NEAR (Directorate-General for Neighbourhood and Enlargement Negotiations), European Comission who spoke at the event, noted the importance of RENAM in the development of research and education in Moldova.
The partners of the EaPConnect project, representatives of the European Research and Education Networks, PSNC (Poland) and GARR (Italy) networks spoke at the meetings and wished success to RENAM in its future activities, emphasized the importance of international cooperation and the important role of NRENs in solving research problems.
In addition to the international conference, a number of important meetings were held in Chisinau, Moldova during the week. B. Nabiyev also participated in the Innovation Forum on Information and Communication Technology. Held annually, this prestigious forum brings together leaders of information and communication technology innovations and startup ecosystems, representatives of government ministries and agencies, as well as other experts from the Eastern Partnership countries.
