Head of the Center of the Institute attended the "Information Day" of NATO 2024-10-04 17:00:00 / EVENTS

An "Information Day" was held at ADA University about the NATO Science for Peace and Security (SPS) program. Within the framework of the event, which was jointly organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan and NATO's Innovation, Hybrid and Cyber Issues division, the scientific cooperation activities of NATO with Azerbaijan and the promotion of new ideas involving the local research community, as well as the discussion of experiences and results in the field of SPS were discussed. More than 40 representatives from the relevant organizations of NATO, ANAS and institutions under the Ministry of Science and Education, as well as the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Defense of Azerbaijan took part at the event.

 

Babak Nabiyev, head of AzScienceNet Network Operation Center of Institute of Information Technology, Ph.D., took part at the event with a report entitled "Cooperation between NATO and Azerbaijan: Advancing Cybersecurity and research initiatives" reflecting the institute's cooperation with NATO. He informed the participants of the event about the "Virtual Silk Road" project, which prompted the start of cooperation between the Institute of Information Technology and NATO in 2003. He noted that a satellite device was installed in the main building of ANAS as part of the project: "Satellite had a very important role in providing institutions with high-speed internet at that time."

During his speech, the head of the center also talked about the support of NATO's Science Program for Peace and Security, the online international conference on "Cybersecurity of industrial management systems" jointly organized by the Institute of Information Technology and the Polish National Center for Nuclear Research. Additionally, he informed the participants of the meeting about the current projects implemented by the institute (Eu4Digital, GN5-1).

It should be noted that representatives of NATO's Science for Peace and Security Program visited Baku to review practical scientific cooperation and start a new research project aimed at protecting critical infrastructure from cyber-attacks.
