The Technical University, the Institute of Control Systems and the Institute of Information Technology of Azerbaijan signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU)) on the implementation of joint research activities. The purpose of the MoU is to establish and develop relations between the parties in relevant areas, to implement and improve joint activities on scientific research and to define the framework of cooperation in other areas of mutual interest.  The meeting was attended the vice-president of ANAS and general director of the Institute of Information Technology, Academician Rasim Alguliyev, the director of the State Agency for Science and Higher Education, Professor Ulkar Sattarova, the Deputy Director of the State Agency for Science and Higher Education, Professor Aminagha Sadigov, the general director of the Institute of Control Systems, Academician Ali Abbasov, the rector of Azerbaijan Technical University, Professor Vilayat Valiyev and representatives from university and institutes.

Prior to the meeting, attendees got acquainted with AzScienceNet Network Operation Center. Head of AzScienceNet NOC, Babak Nabiyev provided information on the center’s activities, Data Center and services. Additionally, talks took place on the implementation of EaPConnect services (eduroam, eduGAIN, etc.) at universities via AzScienceNet.

In his speech, vice-president of ANAS, general director of the Institute of Information Technology, academician Rasim Alguliyev stated that joint management of science and education, as well as the efficient use of science’s potential and accelerating the integration of Azerbaijani science into world science are essential components of state policy.

“Establishing and growing new mechanisms-based cooperation between institutions, exchanging personnel and experience, and supporting the advancement and funding of science through joint projects are the key objectives”, said Rasim Alguliyev.

“The measures to be implemented within the framework of the Memorandum will significantly support the integration of science and education, the preservation and advancement of the existing scientific potential, as well as the training of highly qualified personnel by improving the curriculum of education in higher education institutions”, noted Director of the State Agency for Science and Higher Education, Ulkar Sattarova.

She underlined that the agency is ready to provide the assistance required to strengthen collaboration between research institutes and universities, as well as to establish new mechanisms for funding science.

In his speech, Academician Ali Abbasov, director general of the Institute of Control Systems, said that the Memorandum is crucial for sharing of ideas and experience between Azerbaijan Technical University staff members and research institutes, for forming a favorable environment for their joint activities, as well as for applying the results of scientific research into practical use.

Rector of Azerbaijan Technical University, Professor Vilayat Valiyev expressed great appreciation for the actions that will be carried out in accordance with the MoU as a significant step toward improving the quality of teaching and staff training as well as the execution of collaborative research projects.
