The first meeting of the Scientific Council of the Department of Physical, Mathematical and Technical Sciences (FRTEB) of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS) was held on January 21.

The online event was attended by members of the FRTEB Scientific Council, heads of scientific institutions, deputy directors, scientific secretaries, heads of education, international and public relations departments, as well as chairmen of the Council of Young Scientists and Specialists.

The first issue on the agenda of the meeting was dedicated to the tasks arising from the decision of the Presidium of ANAS “On the scientific and scientific-organizational activities of the Department of Physical, Mathematical and Technical Sciences of ANAS in 2020”.

Speaking on the issue, academician Rasim Alguliyev noted that on January 19, at the next meeting of the Presidium of ANAS, the report on the scientific and scientific-organizational activities of FRTEB for 2020 was heard.

Scientist spoke about the important works to be done in the field of artificial intelligence technologies, cyberphysical systems, software engineering, Big Data, information and radiation security, management of socio-economic, political and technological systems, applied mathematics, mathematical cryptography, mathematical statistics, discrete mathematics, computational mathematics.

According to Rasim Alguliyev, one of the priorities is to ensure the re-formation of the relevant scientific councils of the Republican Council for Coordination of Scientific Research.

The chairman of the Scientific Council said that the recent reforms carried out by the President in social, economic, diplomatic and other spheres were guided in determining the activities of ANAS. From this point of view, recently, under the leadership of the President of ANAS, academician Ramiz Mehdiyev, reforms are being implemented in a number of areas in order to optimize the management of scientific and organizational activities, training of young staff.

Speaking at the online meeting, Academician-Secretary of ANAS, Member of the Scientific Council of FRTEB, Academician Adil Garibov, reminded that, in December 2019 at the General Meeting of ANAS adopted the “Development Program of ANAS for 2020-2025”.

Academician Adil Garibov also gave detailed information about the internal inspections carried out in the institutions of ANAS.

The next issue on the agenda of the online meeting - the preparation of research plans of scientific institutions of the Department of Physical, Mathematical and Technical Sciences for 2021 was widely discussed. The Scientific Council of the department made relevant decisions to submit a petition to the Presidium of ANAS in connection with the 100th anniversary of academician Hajibey Sultanov and the 80th anniversary of the corresponding member of ANAS Gorkhmaz Imanov.

Members of the Scientific Council - Academicians Telman Aliyev, Fikrat Aliyev, Yusif Mammadov, Nazim Mammadov, Javad Abdinov, Corresponding Members of ANAS Misir Mardanov, Aminaga Sadigov, Namig Jalilov, as well as Professor Ayaz Bayramov addressed the post of Director General of two scientific institutions of FRTEB expressed their views and opinions on the candidates. Then, according to the open voting at the online meeting, relevant decisions were made to apply to the Presidium of ANAS on the election of academician Ali Abbasov to the post of director general of the Institute of Control Systems of ANAS, academician Arif Hashimov to the post of director general of the Institute of Physics.

At the end, a number of important issues were discussed and questions were answered.
