Last week, Babak Nabiev, Ph.D., participated in the meeting of the Steering Committee of the GEANT Association (European Association for Science and Education, Gigabit European Advanced Network Technology) in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. 

Note that the meeting was attended by project leaders Veronika Di Luna and Leoni Schafer, IT specialist Ieva Muraskiene, chief technical specialist Claudio Allachio, procurement specialist István Tétényi, members of the Council Raimundus Tuminauskas and Walter van Dyck.

Finance, remaining procurement items and all equipment purchased under the project were overviewed,  a new optical cable between Moldova and Ukraine were discussed at the meeting. Negotiations on mentorship programs and Enlighten Your Research 2019 were discussed and an exchange of views took place on the EaPEC 2020 conference, Marcomms update.

It was emphasized that the next EaPConnect2 project, which is a continuation of the EapConnect project, will focus on gender equality and women's empowerment.
