First Republican Intellectual Property and Innovation Exhibition kicked off at ANAS (Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences) Central Scientific Library- Information Resource Center. The event was organized by the State Committee for Standardization, Metrology and Patents, the Ministry of Economy and Industry, Copy Right Agency and ANAS.

Along with the ANAS institutes, National Aviation Academy, “Azerenerji” JSC Scientific Research and Design Institute of Power Engineering, High Technologies Park, Sumgait Technologies Parks, Ministry of Defense Industry, Ministry of Emergency Situations, “ASAN” service Innovation Centre, Azerbaijan Technical University, Baku State University, Caucasus University, SOCAR etc. organizations, inventors who obtained patents and representatives of private sector operating in other industrial areas are represented at the exhibition.

Speaking at the opening of the exhibition, Chairman of the State Committee for Standardization, Metrology and Patents Ramiz Hasanov said the exhibition is being held in accordance with the Action Plan in connection with the declaration of 2014 the  Year of Industry  in Azerbaijan Republic approved by the Order No. 331 of the President of Azerbaijan dated 2014 .Ramiz Hasanov noted the increasing  role of intellectual property in the economy as a result of dynamic development of the domestic industry and trade, the declaration of 2014 as the Year of Industry by Head of State  contributed to advanced technologies with economic efficiency and rapid development of  economy based on  human capital. According to him, for the sake  of economic progress, new technologies to improve the efficiency of the industry, the introduction of new approaches and inventions are crucial. In turn, new technologies and inventions are values concerning scientific and technical research, creative activity, in a word, human capital

The president of ANAS, acad. Akif Alizadeh spoke about the importance of the event.  The exhibition devoted to the Intellectual property and innovation was held for the first time in the republic, scientist mentioned. According to him, organization of such exhibitions will affect the integration of business and science, business and education.

The Deputy Minister of Economy and Industry Niyazi Safarov, Chairman of Copyright Agency Kamran Imanov spoke at the opening ceremony and highly appreciated the event as a critical factor in the development of the industry.
