''Chiplets "- a revolutionary technology for designing and manufacturing chips from AMD 2018-07-23 11:54:00 / INTERESTING INFORMATION

Researchers at AMD are now working on the concept of the so-called "chiplets", which, in their opinion, will speed up the exchange of data between computer components and reduce the size of computers due to greater integration of components. A set of these individual components, chiplets, will be represented by processors, memory, I / O devices and all the other components necessary to build even the most complex systems.

When implementing this technology, you can face at least one problem. Despite the fact that the system of each individual chip can be "licked" to the ideal and work properly, when installing these chipsets on a chip of a large unifying chip, information "jams" can begin to appear that will negate all the advantages of this technology.

Now AMD specialists are experimenting with passive combinational chips, which contain only connecting conductors, and on which there are no active elements that ensure the operation of the network infrastructure. Moreover, this approach is already used in practice, based on chipsets and a passive combiner chip, Radeon R9 processors are built. Nevertheless, the most interesting are the active unifying chips, which will allow them to create intelligent and complex systems capable of solving difficult computing tasks with maximum efficiency.
