Within the project, students will receive Apple products and will be able to take a course from the company
Ohio State University announced a new joint initiative with Apple in the field of digital education. The project called Digital Flagship University begins this academic year. According to the president of the University Michael V. Drake, the initiative will allow students to develop modern mobile skills and continue to excel in a competitive labor market. As part of the project, the school will equip the iOS Design Lab, and freshmen will be given an iPad Pro.
iOS Design Lab will be open to students, teachers and local residents. The laboratory will provide technical training and certification of application developers in the Apple Swift programming language, as well as other educational and career programs. In addition, Apple will help the university develop applications within the initiative.
Starting in the fall of 2018, students entering the first year will receive iPad Pro, Apple Pencil and Smart Keyboard. Funding for this will come from the Ohio administrative efficiency program.
