Sony announces world’s fastest SD card, offering 299 MB/s write speed 2017-02-28 12:20:07 / CONFERENCES

At the CP+ Camera Photo and Imaging Show in Japan, Sony has announced the new, ultra-fast SF-G series SD cards, which are currently the world's fastest SD cards (as of February 21). The SD cards offer up to 299MB/s write speeds and 300MB/s read speeds. The cards are ideal for burst mode shooting and recording 4K video. To keep the cards writing as fast as possible, Sony has developed an algorithm to "prevent loss of speed in data writing" when burst shooting.

Capturing images quickly is one thing, but you also have to get them to your computer. Sony has also announced the MRW-S1 memory card reader, which includes a built-in SuperSpeed USB port (USB 3.1 Gen.1), itc.ua  reports.

The new cards, along with previous Sony SD cards, are waterproof, x-ray proof, temperature resistant and shock-proof, ensuring that your speedy SD cards will work even in the most demanding environments.

The SF-G32, SF-G64 and SF-G128 SD cards will be available in March. The MRW-S1 card reader will be available in April. Pricing information for the new cards and reader is not yet available.
