The final round of the Olympiad in Informatics held 2016-05-04 16:17:27 / CONFERENCES

 

On April 30, Institute of Information Technology of ANAS hosted the final round of the "Olympiad in Informatics among university students” dedicated to the May 17 - World Telecommunication and Information Society Day.

 

The organizers of the event, which has been annually held since 2007, are Heydar Aliyev Foundation, the Ministry of Communications and High Technologies of AR, the Ministry of Education of AR and the Institute of Information Technology of ANAS.

 

13 teams from 13 higher education institutions of the country (Qafqaz University, ADA University, Baku State University (BSU), National Aviation Academy, Baku Higher Oil School, Azerbaijan Technical University, Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University, Moscow State University Baku branch, State Administration Academy, Azerbaijan University, Nakhchivan State University, Azerbaijan State Agrarian University, Mingachevir State University) took part in the final round.

 

The event was opened by the academician-secretary of ANAS, director of the Institute of Information Technologies of ANAS, acad. Rasim Alguliyev. First, Mr.Alguliyev welcomed the participants of the event on behalf of the Management of Academy and the staff of the Institute of and Information Technology of ANAS. Note that, 55 teams from 22 universities participated in the first phase.

 

Later, Deputy Minister of Communications and High Technologies of AR Elmir Valizadeh made a speech and spoke about the fastest growing area of ICT sector in the republic.

 

Chairman of the Jury of the Olympiad, who has great contributions to the training of generations of programmers, associate professor of Baku State University, "Glory" order owner Ramin Mahmudzadeh stressed the need for the development of highly qualified personnel, computer and software engineers.

Department head at the Ministry of Education of AR Ismayil Sadigov, and representative of Heydar Aliyev Foundation Niftali Aliyev highly appreciated such events for improving their ICT skills, revealing talented students in the field of computer science and programming, and attracting them to related projects.

 

Then the final stage of the Olympiad was held. Each team was given the task to resolve 10 issues within 5 hours.

 

According to the results of the final round, Qafqaz University team "Qafqaz Programmers"won the 1st place, Baku Higher Oil School team "BHOS2" ranked the 2nd, and Baku State University team "BSU-4" ranked the 3rd.

 

Note that, the winners will be awarded certificates and diplomas of the Ministry of Communications and High Technologies, including precious gifts by "HP", "Azerfon" and "Caspian Telecom" at the event to be organized on May 17 dedicated to the World Telecommunication and Information Society Day.
