Training sessions on the organization and deployment of eduROAM services have commenced at the Institute of Information Technology, supported by the EaPConnect (Eastern Partnership Connect) project of GÉANT (European Association of National Research and Education Networks).
The training is tailored for system and network administrators, IT specialists from the AzScienceNet Network Operations Center, as well as representatives from relevant departments of ADA University, Azerbaijan State Economic University, Karabakh University, Nakhchivan State University, Azerbaijan Technical University and the Presidium of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS).
In his opening remarks, the Vice-President of ANAS, Director General of the Institute, Academician Rasim Alguliyev highlighted the significant opportunities the EaPConnect project offers to partner countries.Established by the European Commission, EaPConnect aims to build a high-speed regional internet network for science and education and facilitate integration with the European research and education infrastructure.
He emphasized the importance of expanding eduROAM services across scientific and educational institutions in Azerbaijan. The service allows employees of scientific and educational institutions to access the Internet freely and securely during their business trips to foreign countries, by connecting to the local network infrastructure of participating institutions in other countries.
The three-day training is conducted by Zenon Mousmoulas and Halil Adem, specialist from GRNET- Greek Research and Technology Network.
