The concert event was organized by Nakhchivan State University (NDU) of MSERA, Baku Academy of Music named after Uzeyir Hajibeyli and Institute of Information Technology of MSERA, with the participation of GEANT Association, Italian GARR network and Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre. The event took place with the help of LOLA (LOw LAtency) audiovisual broadcasting system, which is implemented within the framework of the EaPConnect project of GEANT Association, supported by the European Commission and aimed at providing real-time music performances.
First, speaking at the launch ceremony of the LOLA system at NSU, the rector of university, Elbrus Isayev, evaluated this event as an important cultural event in terms of demonstrating Azerbaijan's scientific and cultural potential at the international level, as well as strengthening international cooperation in the fields of science and education.
The rector noted that the LOLA audiovisual broadcasting system, which brings together physically distant performers and musicians through advanced network services through online connections, is one of the unique projects supporting the digitalization process in our country and has laid the foundation for a new stage in cooperation with the Baku Academy of Music. He also noted that the system has great potential in terms of expanding inter-university cooperation and creating an online "art bridge", and emphasized that it is intended to widely use the capabilities of the LOLA system at the NSU Conservatory.
Then, a video address by the Vice-President of ANAS, General Director of the Institute of Information Technology, Academician Rasim Alguliyev to the participants of the event was demonstrated at the event.
The academician noted that for a long time, specialists from the AzScienceNet NOC of Institute of Information Technology and various European countries have been working on the installation of the LOLA system at NSU, and as a result, a joint concert event was held between the collectives of Nakhchivan State University and Baku Academy of Music through the LOLA system, and congratulated the participants on this significant event.
"The LOLA system creates a new technological environment and opportunities for cooperation in the field of music and art by providing a high-quality audiovisual communication environment. This system allows musicians to perform together over the Internet without physically gathering in one place. Thus, this technology significantly expands the possibilities of creativity and cooperation by eliminating boundaries in the art of music," he noted.
The launch of the LOLA system at NSU will not only open up wide opportunities for the global promotion of the rich musical heritage of Nakhchivan, which has been formed over the centuries, but will also create conditions for the expansion of cooperation between this higher education institution and the Baku Academy of Music and other musical institutions.
At the end of his speech, Academician Rasim Alguliyev also expressed his gratitude to the leadership and specialists of the Baku Academy of Music and Nakhchivan State University, the GEANT Association, as well as representatives of the Estonian Academy of Music and Theater, one of the main partners of the EaPConnect project, for their support in the successful implementation of the project. He expressed confidence that this cooperation will be sustainable and will pave the way for new technological innovations in the future.
Then, the rector of the Baku Academy of Music, People's Artist, Professor Farhad Badalbeyli made a speech and emphasized that the new system applied will expand the capabilities of the NSU Conservatory and open up great opportunities for more efficient organization of activities in the field of teaching and performing classical music. He expressed his gratitude to the organizers for the high-level organization of the event and expressed his confidence that the project will continue successfully.
Irina Matthews, the manager of the EaPConnect project of the GEANT Association, spoke via video address about the importance of the application of the LOLA audiovisual broadcasting system, drew attention to the fact that the system opens up new opportunities for further expanding cooperation between various institutions, and wished success to the work of the event.
Then, in the artistic part of the event, joint musical performances were performed with the participation of representatives of the Baku Academy of Music and the NSU Conservatory using the LOLA system.
At the end of the event, Assoc. Prof. E. Isayev expressed his confidence that the work carried out within the framework of joint cooperation will make significant contributions to the further development of the cultural environment in Nakhchivan.
The Rector particularly noted the activities of the Institute of Information Technology in terms of project implementation and technical support, and expressed his deep gratitude to the organizers of the event.
