Vice-president of ANAS, General director of the Institute of Information Technology, academician Rasim Alguliyev participated in the 28th meeting of the GEANT General Assembly in Amsterdam, the capital of the Netherlands. As every year, official representatives from Research and Education networks of European and Eastern Partnership countries participated in the event.
At the event, news about the activity of the GEANT Association, implemented projects, including information about the GEANT Innovation Program were brought to attention. In the context of the global risks that have arisen in the modern era, discussions were held in the direction of ensuring the stable operation of the national network infrastructures for science and education, the dependence of the national network infrastructures on global risks, increasing the technological knowledge of their users, training highly qualified personnel in this field, and proposals were put forward.
The agenda of the meeting also included issues related to the development of cooperation relations with the countries of the European Union, the capabilities of supercomputer technology centers operating in these countries, the construction of extremely high-speed terabit networks that are currently being formed, the strengthening of network infrastructure, and the use of quantum internet technologies.
Within the framework of the event, a broad exchange of ideas on the development of bilateral and multilateral relations with other countries that are members of the GEANT Association was also held. Academician R. Alguliyev participated in the discussions on the prospects of scientific activity and cooperation with the officials of the respective institutions of those countries.
Representation of Azerbaijan at the "TNC 2023" conference scheduled to be held next year in Tirana, the capital of Albania, participation of our country in the European Open Science Cloud project and other issues were discussed at the meeting.
It should be noted that the General Assembly is the highest governing body of GEANT. Representatives of member organizations meet twice a year.
