Academician Rasim Aliguliyev: "EaPEC 2022" will create new opportunities for Azerbaijan in the field of digital transformations 2022-09-30 15:00:00 / CONFERENCES

Academician Rasim Aliguliyev, vice-president of ANAS, general director of the Institute of Information Technology, spoke at the closing ceremony of "The 5th Eastern Partnership E-infrastructures Conference - "EaPEC 2022".

The academician spoke about the support of the Azerbaijan state to the development of science and education, including that the conference caused wide discussions on various public platforms, and emphasized the importance of the event.

The vice-president of ANAS said that this prestigious international conference serves two important purposes - expansion of cooperation relations between Eastern Partnership countries and acceleration of integration of these states into the European community. According to the academician words, the reports presented at the conference provided detailed information on the results of significant research conducted in partner countries, and the importance of artificial intelligence, IV industrial revolution and high technologies that meet global challenges, cloud technologies, and mobility were demonstrated in these studies.

Aliguliyev drew attention to the fact that the activities of the conference are focused on the problems existing in the relevant field in Azerbaijan. He noted that Eric Huizer, CEO of GEANT, held important meetings in the official institutions operating in the field of science and education a few days before the conference, closely participated in the discussions in order to solve the existing problems, and put forward his proposals.

"I think that the conference will create new opportunities for Azerbaijan, especially in the field of digital transformations," added R. Aliguliyev. The academician drew attention to the fact that with the relevant Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the institutions operating in the field of science and education were included in the newly created Ministry of Science and Education, and AzScienceNet, AzEduNet and other network structures will work together.

The academician also said that in a series of meetings held with the participation of European Union and GEANT officials, representatives of partner countries, information was provided about the positive experiences of these countries, and he expressed confidence that Azerbaijan will benefit from these experiences.

"Azerbaijan will mobilize its resources within the framework of GEANT's "EapConnect" project," R. Aliguliyev said, stressing that necessary measures have been taken to make Azerbaijan one of the countries that play an important role in the activities of GEANT Association.

The director general of the institute also talked about the existing problems in the field of providing quality scientific and educational online content to Azerbaijani scientists, ensuring the access of the scientific and educational community of Azerbaijan to prestigious international scientific bases, continuously equipping higher education institutions with teaching materials that are adequate to the challenges of the modern era, European He noted that it is important to allow access to the e-libraries of the universities and scientific centers of the Union countries, and to support the transfer of distance learning technologies to our country by the European Union and GEANT.

At the end of his speech, Academician R. Aliguliyev thanked the European Union, GEANT and the management of the "EaPConnect" project for their support in organizing such a prestigious conference in Azerbaijan.
