The work and problems on the development of international cooperation in the field of e-science were discussed at the online conference on "The state of formation, problems and solutions of e-science."
The event was attended by the Department of Physical-Mathematical and Technical Sciences of ANAS, the Department of Coordination of Scientific Research of the Presidium of ANAS, the Institute of Information Technology of ANAS, as well as other responsible employees of ANAS.
Head of the International Relations Department of the Institute of Information Technology, PhD in technical sciences Babek Nabiyev made a presentation on the current relations with the European Commission, members of the European National Research and Education Networks, as well as GEANT, which manages joint research and education network projects with other partners.
Speaking about the European Union's Eastern Partnership initiative launched in 2009, the rapporteur noted that the European Commission signed an agreement with GEANT on 11 June 2015 in Luxembourg to expand relations between the Eastern Partnership countries, and on 1 July 2015 with the GEANT Association and the Eastern Partnership. He also said that a grant agreement for the EaPConnect project has been signed between the two countries.
Reminding that the Republic of Azerbaijan is represented by the Institute of Information Technology of ANAS in the EaPConnect project, the head of the department noted that a Joint Statement was adopted on November 24, 2017 at the Eastern Partnership Summit attended by President Ilham Aliyev.
Speaking about the participation of the Institute of Information Technology in the EaPConnect project, Babek Nabiyev said that the institute's participation in the project was ensured on the basis of a grant agreement signed between GEANT and the Eastern Partnership countries on July 1, 2015. He said that 1Gbit / sec Internet speed has been provided to AzScienceNet since March 2017, and the Internet speed has been increased to 3Gbit / sec since January 2020.
Nabiyev also informed about the institutions which the institute cooperates in cooperation with the GEANT Association. He said that ULAKBIM (Turkish Academic Network and Information Center), GRENA (Georgian National Research and Education Network), BASNET (Belarusian National Research and Education Network), URAN (Ukrainian National Research and Education Network), RENAM (Moldova National Research and Education Network) education network), etc.
He noted that the institute's accession to the GN4-3 project, which involves science and research networks from 40 countries within the Horizon 2020 program, is part of international cooperation.
Nabiyev also noted that the importance of registration of the EaPConnect-2 project, staff shortages in the field of electronic science, study and implementation of innovative services, as well as other issues.
Vice-president of ANAS, director of the Institute of Information Technology, academician Rasim Alguliyev shared his views on the presentation and made proposals and recommendations on expanding international cooperation in the field of electronic science, early detection and elimination of problems in this direction.
"Electronic science, which is a new ideology, is a segment of the information society formed in our country, a part of the global space," he said, emphasizing the need to inform the public about the measures taken by ANAS to form and develop electronic science.
