After the signing ceremony on December 10, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and President of the Republic of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan made joint statements to the press.
AZERTAC reports that first the head of our state made a statement.
Statement by President Ilham Aliyev
-Dear Brother, Mr. President.
I sincerely greet you once again in Azerbaijan. Welcome to.
Today is a very significant day in the history of Turkey-Azerbaijan. Today we congratulated each other while watching the Victory Parade together. We congratulated our peoples on this victory. This historic victory is the embodiment of our unity. Turkey and its President have supported Azerbaijan and the Azerbaijani people since the first hours of the war. His statements were very valuable and valuable for the people of Azerbaijan, as well as a message to the whole world that Azerbaijan is not alone, no one should interfere with Azerbaijan, Azerbaijan has fought for justice, fought for the Fatherland and Turkey stands by Azerbaijan. The presence of our brother, like Turkey, encouraged us even more and gave us extra strength. We used force to liberate our historical lands from occupiers.
There are no countries in the world as close as Turkey and Azerbaijan. It's true. Today, if we look at the world map, we see that there are no other countries that are as interconnected and close to each other as we are. What unites us is our common history, religion, culture, language, literature, as well as our policy. Turkey and Azerbaijan are countries pursuing an independent policy in the world. Turkey's strength increases our strength.
In the Great Patriotic War, the famous "Bayraktar", a product of the Turkish defense industry, caused a great change and played an exceptional role in our success.
Today is a historic day. Because in this Victory Parade, Turkish and Azerbaijani soldiers crossed Freedom Square shoulder to shoulder. Not only Baku, but all our cities are now decorated with Turkish and Azerbaijani flags.
Once again, dear brother, welcome. Welcome to your homeland. We love you from the bottom of our hearts. The people of Azerbaijan have shown their love to you in the streets today. We said that after the construction of a new highway to Shusha - a highway to be built by Turkish companies - I hope we will go to Shusha together.
President Recep Tayyip Erdogan: Hopefully.
Then the President of Turkey made a statement.
- On behalf of myself and my nation, I would like to thank my dear brother, Mr. President, for this message, especially on Victory Day. On behalf of myself, my delegation and my nation, I wish and congratulate my brother, who led this work, and all my Azerbaijani Turkish brothers on his example.
Indeed, the outcome of a 44-day war has made my brothers in Turkey as happy as my brothers in Azerbaijan. This is a joy experienced both in our person and in the person of our whole nation. We came to these events today at the invitation of my brother, and when we saw that joy on the avenue, we realized that the enthusiasm as a result of such a Victory could only be this way, this way. Of course, congratulations on such a victory, "Congratulations!" it is our duty to say. May my Lord grant me the success of the next process.
While visiting the graves today, the former chairman of our parliament Ismail Gahraman said that he had seen a very different Azerbaijan, Baku, every time during his previous visits. In particular, I have lived through it for twenty years. I believe that when we come this summer, I hope we will see how Karabakh has changed. I do not doubt it. Today's signatures are, in fact, symbolic. There are more signatures to be discarded. Along with these signatures, I hope that Azerbaijan will continue to raise Karabakh in a completely different way. May God help us. I wish God's mercy to our martyrs and healing to our veterans. I wish you continued success.
Good luck, thank you.
