Taking into account that November 10 is the day of remembrance of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk in Turkey, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has decided to change the date of Victory Day.

The liberation of Shusha, the pearl of Karabakh, on November 8 from twenty-eight years of slavery played a decisive role in the fate of the war, led the enemy's political and military leadership to admit defeat and suspend military operations.
Therefore, taking into account the historical significance of the city of Shusha and its liberation from occupation, this unprecedented victory, which has become a celebration of the determination and strength of our people, exceptional importance for the future development and prestige of our state -Victory Day will be celebrated on November 8 every year.
