One of the issues discussed at the meeting of the Scientific Board of the Institute of Information Technology of ANAS was dedicated to the discussion of the state of cooperation with the GEANT Association.
Speaking about this, Technical Director, Doctor of Philosophy in Technical Sciences, Associate Professor Rashid Alakbarov highlighted the work done in the current year in this direction. He noted that AzScienceNet represents Azerbaijan in this organization by joining GEANT, a giant electronic infrastructure that serves all science and education institutions in Europe since 2016.
Noting that AzScienceNet has great opportunities to integrate science and education in the country, R. Alakbarov noted the establishment of business cooperation between ANAS and the Ministry of Education in this direction. He emphasized that, along with the scientific research institutes of ANAS, the educational institutions of the country have the opportunity to benefit from the services of AzScienceNet institute and the Data Center.
According to R. Alakbarov, as a result of integration between AzScienceNet and Azerbaijan Education Network - AzEduNet, scientists and specialists of higher education institutions and other educational institutions of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan, PhD students have been provided with wide range of services provided by GEANT network.
He said the creation of WiFi and Eduroam services for the country's science and education institutions in the direction of the AzEduNet integrationto AzScienceNet is expected to be increased by the end of the current year.
The director of the institute also said that joining AzScienceNet "Grid Scientific Research Center" functioning at the Institute of Physics of ANAS, noted that recently the second block of the center was created.
R. Alakbarov noted the work carried out within the framework of “EaPConnect” project aimed at creating an electronic infrastructure for science and education in the Eastern Partnership countries in cooperation with GEANT.
He said that LOLA (LOw LAtency audio visual streaming system) technology has been implemented in our country, allowing people to communicate with each other from a distance. In this regard, the speaker underlined that technology has been studied, measures have been taken to demonstrate this technology's music performance and to establish cooperation with the Baku Music Academy.
