Many Internet resources were attacked by hackers. Under the impact were providers using Cisco routers. This is reported by the publication TJournal.

According to the source, a bot appeared on the network that scans Cisco equipment for vulnerabilities, and if it finds them, it overrides the parameters in the firmware. The bot removes the configuration files and in their place leaves a message with the image of the US flag.

A number of Russian providers and websites reported problems in the operation of the network. Foreign companies also suffered. For example, Twitter worked unstable all evening.

Experts noted that the vulnerability used by hackers is present in more than eight million devices and called the current position of providers critical. Developers Cisco have released software that fixes the bug, but it is installed only on a small part of their hardware. And this despite the fact that the vulnerability became known even last year.

Cisco has published instructions for administrators who can help with the resolution of the problem.
