Intel announced the beginning of deliveries of new cameras with RealSense technology, providing "three-dimensional vision" to any electronic system and implemented as separate plug-in devices.
Both devices - Intel RealSense D415 and D435 - are part of the line of RealSense cameras of the new generation, D400 and are equipped with a new D4 image processor, developed by the chip maker. They receive power and transmit data via USB-interface, and can connect to any computer system, including not only PCs, but also various kinds of amateur projects, robots, drones, etc.
Cameras work without problems both indoors and outdoors, and can be used to realize all kinds of opportunities in augmented and virtual reality.
For the cameras, a cross-platform toolkit for the developer of RealSense SDK 2.0 is created, which is distributed as open source software. Cameras and software for them will allow you to give any system "three-dimensional" vision, through which devices, like people, will be able to distinguish not only the shapes and colors of objects in the field of view, but also "see" the distance to them.
The Intel D415 and D435 cameras are available for pre-order at a price of $ 149 and $ 145, respectively. The D415 has a narrow field of view and it is best suited for working with small objects and situations in which the most accurate measurements of distance are needed. The image is fixed with the rolling shutter technology, that is, the matrix registers the image not simultaneously, but gradually.
