Google has developed an algorithm based on pattern recognition and machine learning that allows you to search for "twins" on the smartphone's self-portrait in a vast archive of works of art digitized for the Google Arts & Culture project.
Based on the algorithm in Google created a kind of mini-game and built it into the application Google Arts & Culture (available for Android and iOS). After receiving the user's self, the program finds in the project database the portrait or sculpture most similar to it. Then the image on which Selfie and the "double" from the art world are placed side by side, as well as their "similarity" in percent, can be published in social networks.
Judging from the photos published in social networks with hashtag #googleartsandculture, the algorithm often "well" notes the details, but rarely "sees" the picture as a whole - for example, portraits of people are given out when loading pictures of cats, and a portrait of an old woman can be compared to a young girl's photo. The sex of people in portraits also sometimes does not correspond to the floor of the "original".
