Virtual reality is not only a video game but also a very promising direction in art. There are various VR-applications that allow you to visit the famous museums, exhibitions, from the first person see the reconstruction of the events at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, visit Mars and even be inside the works of Salvador Dali. But the people of art are not going to stop there. Take at least the famous director Alejandro González Iñárritu, who will be the first in Hollywood to receive the Oscar statuette for his VR experiment.
Inarritu is widely known to fans of cinematography with such films as Survivor (2015), Birdman (2014), 21 Grams (2003) and many other great films. In his works, he skillfully combines sincerity, drama, excellent camera work and to the smallest detail verified performance. Hollywood critics of the Mexican director are highly respected and valued, as confirmed by his two Oscars in the nomination "Best Director", as well as many nominations for this prestigious award. Now the collection of Inarritu will be replenished with another golden statuette. This time for an experiment in the field of virtual reality.
The director's new work is difficult to call a full-fledged film. Rather, it is a kind of VR-experience, an installation that can be demonstrated at various exhibitions and events, hi-news.ru reports. The short work "Carne y Arena" is called, and the main subjects of it were immigrants and refugees with their difficult fates and broken lives. And the Oscar will be awarded to the director in a special nomination "in recognition of the powerful visionary experience in the narrative." The last time such a unique nomination of film academy was instituted in the far 90s, and the animated tape "Toy Story" was given to the statuette.
