Today, details of the patented development of Facebook have become known. These are new glasses for augmented reality that will be able to transfer virtual objects to the real world.
Points are being developed by Oculus, a startup absorbed by Facebook in 2014. The patent application states that the glasses are equipped with a display with an integrated two-dimensional scanner. Unlike the Oculus Rift, the new development allows the user to see virtual objects and interact with them in the real world. While there is little information available on the design of the device - it is known only that this wearable gadget as a whole will be like ordinary glasses.
At the same time, Facebook explained that "smart" glasses will be able to project light on the user's eyes through a waveguide display that can add images and video to what the person sees. They can work together with headphones or game consoles to achieve a greater immersive effect.
This year, Facebook launched a virtual social network Spaces, which uses Oculus Rift. Mark Zuckerberg describes Spaces as "a new application for virtual reality where you can relax with friends in a fun interactive environment, as if you are in the same room."
