A team of engineers from the Belgian Antwerp University have developed an automated interpreter. The first version of the "Project Lion" robot was created with the help of 3D printing technology and can translate the text. But the main purpose of the producers is to create a two-handed and expressive robot that brings all the difficulties of the gesture language.

T5he project called "Project Lion" is in the form of an automated handheld computer integrated into the network, “ICTnews” Electronic News Service reports. The robot conveys text messages sent by local users with gestures. At the moment the alphabet system used by the robot corresponds to each particular gesture.

The robot's hand is composed of 25 plastic details printed on 3D printer, 16 servomotor, 3 controllers and microphone "Arduino Due". Manufacturers said that all the details are 139 hours long and 10 hours for installation.

According to their information, an automated interpreter of gesture language can be used in a place where the hearing impaired could be without a translator (for example, a courtroom).
