SD Association introduced a standard SD Express card that adds support for PCIe and NVMe interfaces to SD cards, which will increase the data transfer rate to almost gigabytes per second. In addition, the association introduced the SDUC standard, which supports up to 128 terabytes of data.

The SD format is the most popular memory card format in consumer devices. As a rule, these cards are used as a removable data storage for cameras, drones and other devices.

The SD Association, developing the SD standard, introduced the SD 7.0 specification, which integrates into the SD card two technologies used in SSD-drives - PCI Express 3.0 and NVM Express 1.3. These cards will be called SD Express and have an appropriate inscription on the case. With PCIe support, new memory cards will be able to transfer data at speeds up to 984.6 megabytes per second. In addition, the use of this interface will allow computer components to access memory without the involvement of a central processor.
