China became the leader in the new ranking of the world's 500 most powerful supercomputers 2017-11-16 16:20:00 / TECHNOLOGİCAL İNNOVATİONS

Chinese supercomputers Sunway Taihulight and Tianhe-2 took the first and second positions in the ranking of the 500 most powerful supercomputers in the world for the fourth consecutive time.

In addition, the PRC was the first in the world in terms of the total number of supercomputers in the rating, ahead of the US. In the new ranking, belta.by  reports. China is represented by 202 supercomputers, while the number of American powerful computers has dropped to 144.

The rating of the world's 500 most powerful supercomputers is published every six months. This time, the Chinese supercomputers Sunway Taihulight and Tianhe-2 were again in the lead, their performance reached 93 petaflops and 33.9 petaflops (quadrillion floating point operations per second), respectively.
