Smartphone will help to recognize the spoiled meat 2018-06-29 15:49:00 / TECHNOLOGİCAL İNNOVATİONS

The main "tool" for determining the freshness of meat in everyday life is still the sense of smell. However, his sensitivity is different for different people, and a piece that can cause poisoning does not immediately start to emit a strong enough smell. Scientists from China and the USA undertook to study this problem and suggested to determine the freshness of meat using a smartphone and a special sensor.

Researchers from the University of Nanking and the University of Texas in Austin have developed a sensor from conductive polymer that is sensitive to so-called biogenic amines - organic substances that are released during decay and exude an unpleasant odor. This sensor scientists combined with the NFC-tag, which allows you to read data on the freshness of meat using a smartphone with an NFC module.

Currently, scientists hope to commercialize the technology. They suggest placing tags with sensors inside packages with meat, so that store employees and buyers can easily and accurately determine its freshness.
