Wallpaper able to warn about the fire created 2018-04-03 17:06:00 / INTERESTING INFORMATION

Fireproof wallpaper is made of special electrically conductive material. The graphene sensor built into their tissue activates the audible alarm.

As a material for their invention, scientists from the Shanghai Institute of Ceramics used hydroxyapatite. This substance is the main component of bones and teeth. Hydroxyapatite is a fairly brittle and hard substance, but scientists have been able to produce from it super-long nanotubes, sufficiently flexible for making wallpapers.

To turn ordinary wallpaper into a smart wallpaper, scientists placed on their surface an ink sensor. At a temperature influence, the wallpaper fabric passes from the insulating to the conductive state, closing the fire signal circuit and including the sound signal. The sensor is made on the basis of graphene oxide, modified with polidopamine - this allows to increase the alarm time from 3 seconds (during this time burns oxide graphene) to several minutes.
