On September 29, main building of ANAS hosted for farewell ceremony of notable Azerbaijan scientist, Professor of the University of California, honorary member of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences Lotfi Zadeh.

Let us note that Lutfi Zade's body was delivered to Baku this morning. After the funeral prayer in the mosque of Heydar Aliyev, the coffin with the scientist's body was taken to ANAS for the farewell ceremony.

The ceremony was attended by President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, Head of the Presidential Administration Ramiz Mehdiyev, US Ambassador to Azerbaijan Robert Sekuta, Minister of Education Mikail Jabbarov, other state and government officials, scientists and cultural figures, intellectuals and the public.

At the ceremony, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, expressed deep condolences to the close relative of the deceased, People's Artiste, Professor Giannet Salimova.

Opening the ceremony, President of ANAS, Academician Akif Alizadeh said that, the founder of the theory of fuzzy logic in the field of artificial intelligence Lotfi Zadeh was one of the outstanding personalities who made a worthy contribution to world science. Academician noted that, this theory left a deep trace in the development of various branches of science at the present stage and revealed new methods of approach. The head of ANAS also drew attention to the fact that today a number of research centers investigate control systems based on the theory of Lutfi Zade: "Despite the fact that, Lotfi Zadeh lived in America, he was closely tied to his native Azerbaijan. Last time he visited Baku in 2008. His visit was significant with a very important speech at the National Academy of Sciences. Lotfi Zadeh left a large scientific school, which was also formed in Azerbaijan. His death is a great loss for the Azerbaijani and world scientific community".

Minister of Education Mikail Jabbarov noted that, Lotfi Zadeh's last wish was to betray his land in Azerbaijan, this is an indicator of his love for his homeland: "Among outstanding personalities Nizami Ganjavi, Nasreddin Tusi, Gatib Tabrizi, Memara Ajemi, whose names are inscribed in the history of Azerbaijan, Lutfi Zadeh will also take a special place, as an outstanding scientist who has made a worthy contribution to world science".

Further, the director of the Institute of Control Systems of ANAS, academician Telman Aliyev, said that Lotfi Zadeh's theories are now widely used in the fields of energy, transport, aviation, the military sphere, including in everyday life and in all intellectualized directions: "These theories, in general, open up broad opportunities for improving the standard of living. "Sharing his memories of Lotfi Zadeh, the scientist noted that, he always wanted to move to Baku.

In his speech, Academician-Secretary of ANAS, Director of the Institute of Information Technology, Academician Rasim Alguliyev spoke about the scientific researches of the world-famous scientist, his revolutionary innovations in the field of fuzzy logic and noted that his memory will always be revered with deep respect by our people. Stressing that, the philosophy and theory of the late scientist open new subjects of research before the domestic science, Academician said that, computers of the V generation are created precisely because of this theory.

Director of the Institute of Mathematics and Mechanics, corresponding member of ANAS, Misir Mardanov shared his thoughts on the life and work of the scientist. He noted that, his scientific works, ideas and theories are distinguished by their originality and revolutionary nature. According to M.Mardanov, the death of Lotfi Zadeh is a great loss both for the domestic and for the world science.

Speaking at the ceremony on behalf of the family of the late People's Artist of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Professor Janet Salimova expressed deep gratitude to the head of state and the leadership of ANAS for respect and respect for the memory of the scientist.
